A Little About Me

Hello, and welcome to my little corner of the world!

I'm Krista M Lawton, an Australian author, songwriter, photographer and lifelong creative, living in the beautiful Riverland region near Morgan, South Australia.

Home is a 34-acre hobby farm, where life is rarely quiet and there's always something needing attention! Between the cats, dogs, horses, chickens and the many other creatures that share our little patch of paradise, there's certainly never a dull moment.

But above everything else, my greatest pride and joy is my family. I'm a mother of eight wonderful children and grandmother to two beautiful grandchildren. They are my world, my greatest inspiration and, without a doubt, my proudest accomplishment.

Family has always been at the heart of everything I do. While I have many interests, passions and creative ambitions, being a mother will always be the most important and rewarding part of my life.

I believe life is about learning, growing, trying new things and making memories along the way. And if there's one thing I've discovered about myself, it's that I'm never too old to learn something new!

My Creative Journey

Creativity has always been a huge part of who I am.

Photography is my first love and remains one of my greatest passions. There's something incredibly special about capturing a moment in time, whether it's the beauty of nature, the personality of an animal or those little details that might otherwise go unnoticed.

In more recent years, however, I've discovered another passion — writing.

What began as a creative outlet has become something wonderfully cathartic. Writing allows me to explore emotions, tell stories, create entire worlds and give life to ideas that would otherwise remain tucked away in my imagination.

From poetry and song lyrics to children's stories, fantasy adventures and emotionally driven novels, I enjoy exploring different genres rather than limiting myself to just one.

My songwriting has grown into a collection of 117 original compositions, including 109 songs written for my albums and another eight for my musical stage play. Some are heartfelt, some are deeply emotional, and others are just a little bit cheeky!

But my creativity certainly doesn't stop with writing and photography.

Over the years, I've enjoyed candle making, drawing, painting, crochet, sublimation and a variety of other hands-on creative pursuits. I'm always looking for something new to try, and most recently, I even took on the challenge of building my own computer!

Alongside my creative interests, I've also pursued further education, earning certificates in Nutrition and Equine Massage, as well as completing my Certificate III in Community Services.

I have a genuine love for animals, an appreciation for the world around me and a belief that learning should never stop, regardless of age or where life takes us.

I don't consider myself someone who fits neatly into one category. I'm a mother, grandmother, photographer, writer, songwriter, animal lover, maker and someone who simply enjoys creating.

Some days you'll find me behind a camera, others at my computer working on a novel or writing lyrics. And sometimes I'll be outside with the animals, enjoying the peace and quiet of country life.

My interests may be varied, but they're all connected by one thing — a love of creating something meaningful.
